Plano Community Charity Inc. – Supported with donations of household items, furniture and clothing for their resale shop. Profits are used to assist local families with emergencies such as rent, electric bills, etc. Take goods to 2436 Avenue K, or pickups can be scheduled by calling 972-578-0399.
The Clothes Closet (First Presbyterian Church, Plano) – Donations of unused sample cosmetics and toiletries, and clothes, especially children’s. Assist with sorting and sizing clothes, getting them ready for distribution. Leave donations in the closet between the double set of doors at the west entrance to the Sanctuary.
Plano Children’s Medical Clinic – The Clinic provides treatment for children who have no medical insurance or are from low-income families. Monthly monetary donations are given from Mission Funds. Our church also provides fruit cocktail and chicken noodle soup for children during cold and flu season. Watch the bulletin for additional donation requests.
Collin County Adult Clinic – provides limited free health care and medications for adult residents of Collin County without medical insurance. The Mission Ministry provides volunteers and supplies to the clinic. Watch bulletin for requests.
Mission Trips
Tijuana Mission Trips – Work with Baja Christian Ministries to build homes and spread the word of Jesus Christ in communities for the poor in Tijuana, Mexico. Trip length is Thursday - Sunday. Two trips each year: Fall and Spring.
Honduras Mission Trips – Build, provide medical and eye clinics, and spread the word of Jesus Christ to the community in association with other Presbyterian Churches. Trip length is one week. Watch bulletins for details.
Katrina Recovery Mission – We have provided two mission trips to New Orleans to assist in re-building damaged homes from Hurricane Katrina. This labor of love will continue for several years as we are committed to provide support for this on-going need.
Brazil Mission Trip – To Help renovate Church buildings, provide medical clinics, distribute Bibles and clothing to small villages on the Amazon river and spread the word of Jesus Christ to the community in association with other Presbyterian Churches. This is a new mission venture for June 2008 and we will partner with our Brazil New Church Development housed at our church. Trip length is 10 days.. Watch bulletins for details.
Food Pantry – Church families donate balanced meals (bagged goods and nonperishable items) to Isabelle’s Food Pantry for distribution to needy families in Plano. Watch bulletins for menu suggestions. Donations may be left in the tall, brightly, covered cloth, lidded container across from church office.
Used cell phones, with batteries, (NO accessories please!) – Items are sent to EcoPhones where we receive a check, which is in turn sent to missionaries working in the field. Place in labeled basket in Mission alcove across from church office.
Used Laser Ink Printer Cartridges - Used Laser cartridges (size will fit in the palm of your hand) may be put in a zip lock bag and left in labeled basket in Mission alcove across from church office. Sent to EcoPhones (see above description).
Sample and hotel size toiletries, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and unopened kids meal toys – Collected and distributed on our missions trips. Place in labeled basket in Mission alcove across from church office or box next to first floor elevator in the CE building.
South Collin County Habitat for Humanity – Provide manpower and monetary assistance to build homes in Plano for needy families. Details on specific projects will be published in the bulletin and Week@Grace.
Campus Crusade for Christ, Student Venture, and Missionaries – Provide financial assistance locally and worldwide.
Collin County Community College – Five scholarships were provided to well qualified Young people.
Dallas Theological Seminary and Primera Iglesia Bautista – Donations of used computers, printers, scanners, desks, chairs and bicycles are collected and distributed to students. Computer items may be left in Mission alcove across from church office. Call church for items needed to be picked up.
Presbyterian Housing Program – Provide manpower and monetary assistance to fix inhabitable homes in Dallas. Watch the bulletin for date details.
Austin Street Shelter – Donate blankets collected from Grace Presbyterian Church which are distributed in November. Serve a nutritious meal to the homeless on New Year’s Eve. See bulletin for sign ups to donate and serve.
Missions
The purpose of the Mission Ministry of Grace Presbyterian Church is to fulfill the call of the Holy Spirit to be a witness to the love of Jesus Christ by serving others. To that end mission dollars are used for sharing the Gospel, and showing compassion and peacemaking inside and outside Grace Presbyterian Church.
