Grace Presbyterian Church is a Stephen Ministry congregation.
In Stephen Ministry congregations, lay caregivers (called Stephen Ministers) provide one-to-one Christian care (in complete confidentiality) to the bereaved, hospitalized, terminally ill, separated, divorced, unemployed, relocated, and others facing a crisis or life challenge. Stephen Ministry helps our pastors and the congregation provide a quality, confidential caring ministry for as long as people need it.
All Stephen Ministers are specially trained to confidentially help those members of our congregation who are in need or troubled. It is grounded in Jesus’ command to love one another.
Operation Stephen's Touch
A Compassionate Listening Service for Members of Grieving Military Families
Operation Stephen's Touch is a national outreach by the Grace Presbyterian Church Stephen Ministers and supported by the Mission Ministry.
Caring listening by a Stephen Minister is being offered to spouses, parents and siblings of military personnel who died or those who are dealing with separation due to military service. Arrangements will be made with a local congregation for the person requesting a Stephen Minister.
One of our Stephen Ministers is championing this service for military families. Because her husband Stephen died ten years ago as a result of Agent Orange Exposure in Viet Nam she understands the value of having someone, besides a family member or friend, as a true, caring listener during a time of grief. In addition to helping military families by providing a compassionate listening service, Operation Stephen's Touch honors the memory of her husband, who was also a Stephen Minister.
