Garden of Eatin' -- Drama and Storytelling

After studying the layout of the Jerusalem temple, the children will recreate their own temple using empty boxes. Then they will discover what it must have been like for Jesus and his family to pack and plan this journey as they “pack” their own snack bundles.

Acts of the Apostles -- Music and Worship

Music is such an integral part of our worship experience! Our children will discuss why we go to worship and why we praise God in this way as they learn two new songs to sing in a round. They will also make travel pennants to carry with them on the “journey” to Jerusalem.

How Great Thou Art -- Games and Puzzles

Several familiar childhood games will be revisited in this workshop as the children think about Jesus’ boyhood and experiences going to temple. After hearing the story of Jesus’ trip to Jerusalem and what happened there, the children will play “Where’s Jesus?” (think “Where’s Waldo?”) and search for clues.

World Without End -- A/V

Children will have the opportunity to hear and think about the story of Jesus as a boy in the temple by studying several books on Jerusalem and Passover. Scenes from the DVD Secrets of Jerusalem’s Holiest Sites will be watched and discussed.

Kingdom.com -- Computer Lab

Software will help the children memorize the special verse of scripture this month. They will explore what the temple looked like in Jesus’ time. Finally, they will create a modern day conversation between a “lost” child and a “seeking” parent.

[Jesus said to Mary and Joseph], “Why were you searching for me? Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?”-Luke 2:49
