Student Leadership

Seniors 2006; Nicole D., Current Youth Elder; Praise leaders
High school juniors and seniors have an opportunity to identify, develop, and use their spiritual gifts in ministry. Each student can contribute to the growth of the youth ministry by being a part of a team of leaders whose purpose is to learn how to be leaders, participate in service, and to encourage other students in the church and their schools to develop a deeper relationship with the Savior.
Student Leadership begins each year in the fall. A Lock-In was held Friday, August 12, to initiate this year's team and build stronger relationships between team members. Students on the Leadership Team meet with youth leaders once or twice a month outside of weekly leadership training during Sunday School. They are encouraged to attend Fellowship, Discipleship, and outreach events and regular worship. This is a chance for the youth of our church to be empowered to make a difference not only in their own lives, but in the lives of their peers.
Praise and Worship Band: provides the backbone of the Sunday Night Live service, playing contemporary worship music you might hear on the radio or at retreats. Anyone who feels moved to share their musical gifts can join; it only requires rehearsal once a week. Many of our P/W leaders have gone on to lead in the morning worship and other ministries. Step up if you feel the call!
Youth Elder Position: Two years ago Grace began the opportunity for a student to hold a one-year term as an acting Elder on Session, the ruling body of the Presbyterian Church. Each October the position will be filled by a current junior. The commitment involves meeting with Session and with the Youth Commission on two Tuesday evenings a month, as well as membership on the Student Leadership Team.
