Journey to Bethlehem

Journey to Bethlehem
December 8 and 9, 2007

2:00 to 5:00 pm Both Days

During this weekend our church will be transformed into the village of Old Bethlehem.

Before anyone enters the village, the prophet will tell them about the wondrous event that was foretold years earlier.

The census taker will ask the visitors where they are from (didn't they come to the village because Caesar ordered them to come and be enrolled?), and he may want to know something about their posessions.....

As they walk through the village they may meet shepherds, the prophet Simeon, Mary's cousin, Elizabeth, and others from the time of Jesus' birth.  Watch out for the beggars!

Some people may even see a few kings in the village!

In every village at that time there was a market place, and there will be one here, too.  The money changers will gladly change your currency to the kind that can be used for items sold in the market

And finally, in the manger behind the inn, just off the market place, the visitors will find Joseph, Mary, and the Baby.

Everyone is welcome to come and share with us the exciting and miraculous news of Jesus' birth.

If you can help with this event, please contact the church office at 972-596-6233.

A lectionary is a list of Scripture readings for worship.  This one comes from the Presbyterian Church (USA).
