Day School Earns Prestigious National Accreditation

The Grace Presbyterian Christian Day School (GPCDS) has achieved the elite status of accreditation by the National Association for Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

The announcement letter sent to Nancy Hagan said, "The administration, teaching staff and families of Grace Presbyterian Christian Day School are all to be congratulated for being one of the first programs in the country to earn the mark of quality represented by the reinvented (new) NAEYC Accreditation system."

"A gigantic thank you," said Ann Boles, a Grace PC member and GPCDS parent, "to Nancy Hagan, director, Vicki Politz, assistant director, and the entire staff of the day school. Nancy and her staff have been working to achieve this accreditation for more than two years. This places our program in a group of less than 10% of preschools nationwide who hold this honor."

The certification became effective on May 31 and is valid until May 31, 2013.

"I am so proud of this group of teachers!" Nancy said. "Going through this learning process for the past 2½ years has been very challenging, and they all did an amazing job. All of the required criteria had to be studied and put into practice in our school - and observed by qualified validators from NAEYC. This recognition says that our program is one of the few in the country who have achieved the mark of high quality based on standards set forth by NAEYC. It is wonderful to be associated with such a program."

The Grace Presbyterian Christian Day School encompasses both full and part-time programs.

The Part-time Program is a school-year program, operating according to the Plano ISD Calendar. This program educates toddlers through pre-kindergarteners. The hours for this program are 9:00am-2:00pm.

Our full-time program serves children from one year of age through pre-kindergarteners and is operated year-round. The hours for this program are 7:00am-6:00pm.

In addition to the school-year programs, Grace Presbyterian Christian Day School offers an exciting, activity-filled summer camp for six weeks in the summer. Children enjoy the fast-paced activities, the many theme days, and spending time with their peers in this exciting program. 

Grace Presbyterian Christian Day School employs caring teachers in a Christian environment. As one of the few full-time Christian child-care centers in the area, we provide a unique service to the community. Children attending the GPCDS programs benefit from the low teacher-student ratios as well as the fun, theme-based curriculum.

The day to day operations of the Grace Presbyterian Christian Day School are managed by a highly-qualified director and assistant director. The Children’s Weekday Ministry,  composed of members of Grace Presbyterian Church and GPCDS parents,  guides the decision-making process for the school. The ministry is part of the Children’s Commission of the church and the Elders assigned to the Children’s Commission attend the monthly ministry meetings regularly. The Children’s Weekday Ministry meets monthly, on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00pm. The Ministry traditionally does not meet in the months of June or July.

REGISTRATION

There are still a few openings for the part-time pre-school program (9:00-2:00) that begins in September 2008.  Please come by the school office for a tour or to reserve a spot for your child.

Our six-week summer camp begins June 26, 2008, and goes through August 8.  Camp hours are 9:00 am-1:00 pm.  Activities include arts and crafts, puppet shows, magic shows and other fun.  Registration dates for the public are April 14-16.  Please come by the school office to register.

Our full-time daycare is ongoing. Full time classes have registered for the upcoming year September through August. Please call if you would like to be on a wait list for that program.

NEWS

We celebrated the 25th anniversary of our Day School with a school-wide Spring Picnic held on May 16.  God blessed us with beautiful weather, and it was a special night with former students and teachers reuniting, kids playing on the playground, bouncing in the bounce houses and enjoying a picnic dinner.
