DEACONS

The office of deacon, as set forth in Scripture, is one of sympathy, witness and service after the example of Jesus Christ.

It is the duty of deacons to minister to those who are in need, to the sick, to the friendless and to any who may be in distress both within and beyond the community of faith.

The Board of Deacons has established the following four life style parishes with several deacons serving each parish:

• Home Bound -- take communion, Bible study, and care.
• New Members -- help new members transition into our church.
• Prayer -- pray for and follow-up by calling those who submit prayer cards.
• Calling -- regularly stay in touch by phone with those who for whatever reason are not well connected to our church.

In addition to these four parishes, the deacons have four ministries that they oversee:

• Meals and Transportation -- provide meals for families in times of illness or rides to the doctor.
• Health -- provide health resources such as wheelchairs, blood pressure checks and other health-related concerns for our church family.
• Communication -- help our members connect their ministries and businesses with each other.
• Congregational Care -- the work of Stephen Ministers, hospital visitation and anything that needs to be done to provide care for our church members.

The goal of the Board of Deacons is that no one in the church falls "through the cracks" of our family structure and suffers alone. If you know of someone in need please call the church office and let us know. Your Board of Deacons exists to care for others.
